Felt Bicycles is a proud supporter of US Military Endurance Sports, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit amateur sports organization whose mission is “to promote endurance sports as part of a healthy lifestyle to active and Veteran members of the US Armed Forces.” USMES members are some of the most passionate cyclists and triathletes anywhere, and they’re as dedicated to promoting bike riding as part of a healthy lifestyle as they are serving the people of the United States and its allies. In our blog, we’ve showcased several USMES athletes who exemplify the spirit that all cyclists share, one of perseverance in the face of adversity and relishing the unique freedom that a bicycle can provide all individuals. Here’s a bit more about the team, as well as a way you can help support both their racing endeavors and their efforts in bringing awareness and assistance to the disabled veteran community.

As a club, USMES counts around 1,500 members on its roster. While the global COVID-19 pandemic proved to be an unprecedented challenge to racing organizations and events everywhere, it hasn’t stopped USMES from supporting its athletes in their training efforts and aiding them in promoting a healthy, active lifestyle in their respective communities.

Besides providing US military members an outlet for competition, the organization has also grown into an adaptive sports leader, as well as a strong supporter of disabled veterans. In fact, approximately 75% of USMES members note having some type of disability, including invisible disabilities like PTSD, TBI, and hearing loss. USMES is dedicated to integrating wounded and non-wounded team members into a cohesive community of fitness advocates. More than half of USMES members are currently using endurance sports to aid their rehabilitation from serious injury.
