Chloe Dygert Reflects On Her Cycling Career & Focuses On The Future

Chloe Dygert is one of the most gifted cyclists of her generation and, at 23 years old, has the world at her fingertips. Chloe burst onto the radars of cycling fans across the world in 2015 when she won a pair of rainbow jerseys in the Junior road race and Junior time trial at the UCI World Championships. Following that impressive feat, Chloe powered to a series of world championship victories on the track, winning more rainbow jerseys in the individual pursuit and team pursuit discipline—in fact, she still maintains the world record for the individual pursuit. It was last year, however, when Chloe’s true potential for success emerged.

She entered the 2019 Colorado Classic as one of the favorites for victory in the four-day stage race, but no one anticipated the level of dominance that would emerge. Chloe attacked her rivals each day and rode away to all four stage victories, capturing all of the leader’s jerseys in the process. She then arrived at the UCI World Championships and, with the eyes of the cycling world upon her, put in the most dominant time trial performance in history, winning by the biggest margin ever seen in either men’s or women’s categories. Hopes and expectations were understandably high, then, when Chloe began her time trial at this year’s World Championships event in Imola, Italy, which had been quickly put together amidst the unprecedented challenge of a global pandemic. She was on pace for a repeat victory when she suffered a horrific crash, injuring her leg in the process.

Thankfully, Chloe was immediately on the road to recovery, and she’s already got her sights on some big goals in 2021. Speaking about her injury, Chloe says, “Sitting at home complaining about it doesn’t make it any better or take it away. Stay positive and it’ll only be a memory eventually.”

Chloe Dygert has been winning road races, time trials, and track events since 2015. But, starting in 2021, Chloe’s ambitions will see her start a new chapter in her career with a new team, and she will no longer be competing in road or TT disciplines aboard a Felt bike. As such, we want to thank Chloe for her dedication over the past few years to Team TWENTY24 and to Felt Bicycles. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have supported some of the world’s greatest cyclists over the past three decades, and Chloe is one of the most talented and determined we’ve seen. But, more importantly, Chloe is also one of the most genuine, passionate, and thoughtful athletes we’ve ever worked with, and it’s truly been an honor to watch her career blossom. Above all, though, we’re massive bike racing fans, so we can’t wait to see what Chloe does next, including the awe-inspiring performances she’ll continue to create. We asked Chloe to reminisce about her career with Felt thus far, and here are some highlights she wanted to celebrate.

“I’ve ridden Felt bikes since my career started in 2015,” said Chloe. “I was one of the first athletes to ride the [TA FRD] Super Bike! And I guess my favorite memory would have to be winning the TT in 2019 in Yorkshire on my Felt TT bike! It’s been amazing working with Felt. What makes it so special are the relationships I made with everyone at Felt, so it’s more than just riding the bike. It really is family.”

Chloe is set to continue her recovery from injury with an eye towards several big races in 2021. And we’re happy to still have Chloe as part of the #feltfamily, as she’ll still be aboard the Felt TA FRD track bike as part of Team USA as they compete in next summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Chloe, thank you for the memories, as well as for your constant inspiration, unrivaled perseverance, and thrilling performances. We can’t wait to make more memories together in 2021.
