We're exceptionally proud of our latest collection of road bikes, but we're also big fans of cyclists who seek to make their bikes a unique reflection of their riding style and personality. This includes some of our closest-knit members of the Felt family. Two European-based team members, Albert and Hugo, have long wanted to build up their dream FR road bikes. So they got themselves some frame kits, worked with a local artist to create some fantastic custom paint schemes, and then picked out their favorites parts. Check out the gallery below of Albert's "chameleon creation," and don't miss Hugo's FR in a separate blog.
"For my bike, I was looking to have a very special painted frame, something that would really make people stop in their tracks and take a minute to appreciate," says Albert. "Even if you cannot appreciate all the logos and details at first glance, if you take a closer look, you will see all the work behind this. Depending on how the light hits it—or even if you just walk around the bike—it shifts from blue to purple. I took a while deciding between a green chameleon-style paint and this blue one, and I felt that this blue version was more aligned with Felt's brand identity.
"For the build, I decided to go for the full Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 group and wheels, along with a 3T handlebar, stem, and seatpost. I think that this combination represents the perfect compromise between lightweight and reliable components."
Selecting a high-end road bicycle for racing is a significant investment that requires careful consideration, but there are some clear-cut ways to better understand the various frame materials and component specs in order to cut through marketing hype and allow you to make an informed buying decision.
The time of year is fast approaching when many athletes will fly to their annual target events. When competing at a major event, it's important to arrive not only physically prepared, but also psychologically calm and critical to achieving this mental state, is to arrive at the race hotel or host-housing with your equipment intact.
