What's better than a gorgeous and high-performance road bike? Well, that would be a bike that is especially made to complement its rider's personality and preferred pedaling experience. We love seeing custom versions of our bikes, including those from our very own team. Two European-based team members, Albert and Hugo, have long wanted to build up their dream FR road bikes. So they got themselves some frame kits, worked with a local artist to create some fantastic custom paint schemes, and then picked out their favorites parts. Check out the gallery below to see Hugo's awesome rig. And don't miss Albert's FR—just click here.
Hugo wanted to do something classy and a little less daring than Albert's wild "chameleon" paint scheme. But he still wanted some sort of subtle, bright purple finish to add an extra custom touch. The result looks incredible, if we do say so ourselves. For the build, Hugo opted for a selection of high-end components, including a set of Mavic Cosmic wheels, a SRAM Red eTap groupset, Rotor crankset with a power meter, and a 3T seatpost, stem, and handlebar.
Selecting a high-end road bicycle for racing is a significant investment that requires careful consideration, but there are some clear-cut ways to better understand the various frame materials and component specs in order to cut through marketing hype and allow you to make an informed buying decision.
